Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 29, 2026
Overview
Debtdown is a personal debt payoff tracker available on iOS and Android. Your privacy is important. This policy explains what data Debtdown collects, how it is stored, and how it is used. The same policy applies to both the iOS and Android versions of the app, with platform-specific differences noted below.
Data We Collect
Debtdown does not collect any personal data. All information you enter — including debt names, balances, interest rates, due dates, and payment history — is stored exclusively on your device. Debtdown has no servers, no user accounts, and no backend that receives your data.
How Your Data Is Stored
- On iOS: Your data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's on-device storage (UserDefaults and the system Keychain). If you have iCloud enabled, your data may sync to your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit service. iCloud-synced data is only accessible to you and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- On Android: Your data is stored locally on your device using Android's standard on-device storage (a Room database for debts and payments, and DataStore preferences for settings). The Android version does not sync to any cloud service; your data stays on the device unless you back it up yourself using Android's standard backup tools.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
- We do not collect financial account numbers, bank credentials, or login credentials of any kind.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking tools.
- We do not share any data with third parties.
- We do not sell data of any kind.
Crash Reporting
- On iOS: Debtdown uses Apple's built-in crash reporting, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Apple may collect anonymized diagnostic information when the app crashes if you have opted in to share analytics with app developers in your iOS Settings. This data is not linked to your identity and is used only to improve app stability.
- On Android: Debtdown does not include any third-party crash reporting SDK. If you have opted in to share usage and diagnostics with developers in your Android Settings, Google Play may share anonymized crash reports with the developer through Play Console, governed by Google's Privacy Policy. This data is not linked to your identity.
In-App Purchases
Debtdown offers a one-time in-app purchase ("Debtdown Pro") that unlocks additional features. Purchase transactions are processed entirely by the platform's payment system — Apple's App Store on iOS (via StoreKit) and Google Play Billing on Android. We do not see, store, or have access to your payment card information, billing address, or any other financial details. Apple and Google share only an anonymized purchase token with the app so that Pro features can be unlocked on your device. Apple's purchases are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Google Play's by Google's Privacy Policy.
Notifications
If you enable payment reminders, Debtdown sends local notifications on your device. These notifications are generated entirely on-device and no notification data is transmitted to any server. On Android 13 and later, the app will request permission to post notifications the first time you enable reminders; you can revoke this permission at any time from your device settings.
Permissions Used
Debtdown requests only the permissions it needs to function:
- Biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint) — used only to unlock the app if you enable App Lock. Biometric data never leaves your device and is handled entirely by the operating system.
- Notifications — used only to deliver the reminders you schedule yourself.
- Internet (Android only) — used solely to communicate with Google Play Billing for the optional Pro purchase. No other network requests are made.
- Vibration (Android only) — used for subtle haptic feedback when you interact with the app.
Children's Privacy
Debtdown is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children. The app contains no advertising, no social features, and no user-generated content shared with anyone other than you.
Changes to This Policy
