1. Overview
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of MedMinder: Medication Tracker ("MedMinder," "the app"), developed by Michael Hrdlicka ("we," "us," or "our"), available on iOS and Android. These Terms apply to both platforms and all versions of the app unless otherwise noted.
2. Important Medical Disclaimer
The information MedMinder displays — including medication names, schedules, dose counts, adherence statistics, and drug interaction alerts — is based on data you enter yourself combined with publicly available reference data from the U.S. National Library of Medicine's RxNorm database. MedMinder does not verify, validate, or assess the clinical accuracy of this information. Drug interaction information is provided for informational awareness only and does not constitute a clinical recommendation, safety guarantee, or professional medical opinion. Always follow the instructions of your licensed healthcare provider and pharmacist regarding your medications. Never delay seeking medical advice or ignore professional guidance because of anything displayed in the app.
Drug name data and interaction data are sourced from the NLM RxNorm database via a public API. This data is provided for identification, search convenience, and awareness only.
3. Eligibility and Account
MedMinder does not require you to create an account. You may use the app as long as you are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction). By using MedMinder, you represent that you meet this requirement.
Adults may use MedMinder to manage medication schedules for minors or other individuals in their care using the family-profile feature. The adult user is solely responsible for ensuring that any such use is appropriate and complies with the medical guidance of a qualified healthcare provider.
4. Permitted Use
You may use MedMinder for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the app.
- Create derivative works based on the app or any of its components.
- Use the app in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or any portion of it.
- Use the app to store, manage, or distribute medication information on behalf of others in a commercial or professional healthcare context without appropriate authorization.
5. Premium Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
MedMinder offers optional Premium access (available as a lifetime purchase or an annual subscription) that unlocks additional features including cloud backup, additional profiles, and other functionality. All purchases are processed entirely by the platform's payment system — Apple's App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information.
Subscriptions
Annual subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each subscription period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings (iOS) or Google Play account settings (Android). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain Premium access until that date.
Refunds
All refund requests are handled directly by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies. We have no ability to issue refunds directly. Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory refund or cancellation rights you may have under the laws of your country or region, including the EU's 14-day right of withdrawal where applicable.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing at any time. Price changes for active subscriptions will be communicated in advance through the App Store or Google Play and will only take effect at the next renewal period, subject to your consent where required by law.
6. Your Data and Privacy
Your medication data is stored locally on your device. If you subscribe to Premium and opt in, data may also be synced to your private iCloud account (iOS) or backed up to your private Google Drive App Data folder (Android). We do not have access to your data at any time.
When you add a medication with a verified RxNorm identifier, MedMinder sends the numeric RxCUI identifiers of your active medications to the NLM's interaction-list API to check for known drug interactions. Only numeric identifiers are transmitted — no medication names, personal information, or account data are included. See Section 7 for details.
Please review our Privacy Policy for a full explanation of what data MedMinder does and does not collect, how it is stored, and what third-party services the app communicates with.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for maintaining appropriate backups of your medication records.
7. Third-Party Services
MedMinder communicates with the following third-party services in the course of normal operation:
- NLM RxNorm API — A free public service operated by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, used for (a) drug name lookups when you search for a medication (only your search text is transmitted) and (b) drug interaction checks when you add a medication with a verified RxCUI (only numeric RxCUI identifiers are transmitted; no personal data is included). Use is subject to the NLM's privacy policy.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit (iOS) — For processing Premium purchases. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing (Android) — For processing Premium purchases. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit (iOS, optional Premium feature) — For syncing your data to your own iCloud account. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Drive (Android, optional Premium feature) — For backing up your data to your private Google Drive App Data folder. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of any third-party service. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
8. Companion Features
MedMinder includes optional companion features including an Apple Watch app (iOS), a Wear OS app (Android), and Home Screen / Glance widgets. These features communicate directly with your primary device using platform-provided mechanisms (Apple WatchConnectivity, Android Wearable Data Layer, and sandboxed app containers). No data from these features is transmitted to MedMinder or any external server. Use of these features is subject to the same Terms as the main app.
9. Intellectual Property
MedMinder and all of its content, design, code, branding, and associated materials are the property of Michael Hrdlicka and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you. Your download of MedMinder grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on your own devices for personal purposes in accordance with these Terms.
Drug name and interaction data displayed in the app is sourced from the NLM RxNorm database, which is a public domain resource. MedMinder's presentation, organization, and integration of that data remain proprietary.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that reminders and alarms will fire without fail in all circumstances (for example, due to operating system restrictions, low-power modes, or device settings outside our control).
Drug interaction information displayed by MedMinder is drawn from publicly available reference data and is provided for awareness purposes only. It may be incomplete, out of date, or not applicable to your specific clinical circumstances. Always consult your pharmacist or prescriber before making any medication decision.
Medication reminders are a convenience feature only. You must not rely solely on MedMinder to manage critical medical schedules. Always maintain an independent system for tracking your medications.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use MedMinder, including but not limited to missed doses, adverse health outcomes, loss of data, or financial loss — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for MedMinder Premium in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $10 USD, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages or implied warranties. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law, and nothing in these Terms removes or limits rights you have under mandatory local consumer protection laws.
12. Statutory Consumer Rights
If you are located in a jurisdiction whose laws provide consumer rights that cannot be waived by contract — including but not limited to the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, or any other jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection legislation — nothing in these Terms limits or overrides those rights. Your statutory rights remain fully intact regardless of any other provision in these Terms.
13. Privacy and Data Protection
MedMinder does not collect or transmit personal data to our own servers. Because we do not process personal data, MedMinder operates outside the scope of obligations imposed on data controllers by regulations such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's PIPEDA, and Australia's Privacy Act. Any data stored on your device or synced via iCloud or Google Drive is subject to Apple's or Google's privacy policies, not ours.
If you are located in the EEA, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy rights and you believe you have a rights request that cannot be fulfilled through the app itself, please contact us at support@hrdlickaapps.com. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions, except where mandatory local laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.
If you are a consumer located in the EU or UK, you may also have the right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms affects that right. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. For all other users, any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts located in Iowa.
15. Termination
You may stop using MedMinder at any time by deleting the app from your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data permanently. If you have an active Premium subscription, deleting the app does not cancel your subscription — you must cancel through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings separately.
We reserve the right to discontinue the app or any of its features at any time. In the event of discontinuation of a paid Premium feature, we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised date at the top. For significant changes, we will provide notice through App Store or Google Play update notes and, where possible, inside the app. Your continued use of MedMinder after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
