1. Information We Collect
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
TorqueVault stores all of the following data exclusively on your device, in an encrypted SwiftData store. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use iOS system sharing features (such as exporting a PDF or CSV). It is not accessible to us:
- Vehicle information you enter: year, make, model, nickname, drivetrain type, transmission type, and oil type
- Odometer readings and odometer history entries (mileage, date, and optional notes)
- Service items — both default services (e.g., Oil Change, Tire Rotation) and custom services you create — including their names, categories, mileage intervals, time intervals, and enabled/disabled state
- Maintenance records: service logs you create, including date, odometer at service, cost, notes, and any attached receipt photos
- App preferences and settings (distance unit, default oil change interval, oil type, notification preferences)
None of this data includes your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials — TorqueVault does not require an account to use.
Receipt Photos
If you attach a receipt photo to a maintenance record, that image is stored in TorqueVault's private app container on your device and is not shared with us or any third party. Receipt photos are compressed and stored using iOS file protection. They are only accessible within TorqueVault unless you explicitly export or share them yourself.
In-App Purchases (Pro)
TorqueVault Pro purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. The app receives only a verified entitlement from Apple indicating whether you have an active purchase. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles your purchase information.
Notifications
TorqueVault may request permission to send you local notifications for upcoming or overdue service reminders and periodic odometer check-in reminders. These notifications are generated entirely on your device. No notification content is transmitted to us, to Apple, or to any third party.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
TorqueVault does not collect any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any account information (no account required)
- Location data (no location permissions are requested or used)
- Device identifiers, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or any tracking IDs
- Crash reports, telemetry, or analytics sent to our servers or to any third-party analytics provider
- Data from your contacts, camera roll, microphone, or calendar
TorqueVault does not include Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Google Analytics, AdMob, Mixpanel, or any comparable third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDK. The Apple App Store privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) declares NSPrivacyTracking = false and an empty list of tracking domains.
3. How Your Data Is Used
All data you enter in TorqueVault is used solely to provide the app's features — displaying your vehicle's service schedule, tracking maintenance history, predicting upcoming service dates based on your mileage rate, calculating cost insights, sending service reminders, and updating the home screen widget. Because this data is stored locally on your device, we have no access to it and cannot use it for any other purpose.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties. The only external service TorqueVault communicates with is:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — for processing TorqueVault Pro in-app purchases.
TorqueVault does not communicate with any analytics services, advertising networks, or external APIs beyond Apple's own App Store infrastructure.
5. Widgets and App Extensions
TorqueVault includes an optional home screen widget that displays your primary vehicle's upcoming service status. The widget reads directly from TorqueVault's shared app group container on your device using iOS's standard sandboxed mechanisms. No widget data is transmitted to us or any external server.
6. Data Security
TorqueVault relies on iOS's built-in encryption to protect your data on-device. The SwiftData store and receipt photo files are protected with NSFileProtectionComplete (or NSFileProtectionCompleteUnlessOpen for the shared widget container), which encrypts your data using a key derived from your device passcode or biometrics. Your vehicle data is only readable while your device is unlocked.
We strongly recommend using a strong passcode or biometric authentication (Face ID or Touch ID) on your device to further protect your data.
7. Data Retention, Deletion, and Export
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are in full control at all times:
- You can delete individual vehicles, service items, odometer entries, and maintenance records within the app.
- You can export your service history at any time as a CSV or PDF from within the app.
- You can remove all app data by uninstalling TorqueVault. Uninstalling permanently removes the on-device database and all stored receipt photos.
8. Permissions
TorqueVault requests only the permissions it needs to deliver its features. Specifically:
- Notifications — to deliver service due reminders and periodic odometer check-in reminders. You can enable or disable notifications, and customize lead times and reminder intervals, in TorqueVault's Settings screen at any time.
- Photo Library (write only) — if you choose to save an exported PDF to your photo library. TorqueVault does not read from your photo library.
TorqueVault does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, location, or health data.
9. Children's Privacy
TorqueVault is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us using the details below.
10. Your Rights
Because TorqueVault does not collect or store personal data on our servers, most traditional data-rights requests are satisfied by your control over your own device: you can view, export, and delete all of your data directly in the app. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy laws (such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Please contact us at the email below to exercise any such rights.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide notice through App Store update notes and inside the app.
